THOUSANDS OF YOUTHS CRY OUT TO ONELGA COUNCIL CHAIRMAN,PRINCE ISAAC UMEJURU; CRITICIZE FCT MINISTER, NYESOM WIKE AND FORMER CHAIRMAN OF PDP, FELIX OBUAH OVER UNGUARDED UTTERANCES AGAINST FORMER RIVERS STATE GOVERNOR, PETER ODILI
….warn against repeat of such hauling of insults
Thousands of youths from the six zones of Omoku, Egi, Uso-Mini, Igburu, Egbema and Ndoni in Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni Local Government Area are strongly criticizing the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike and former PDP Chairman in the State, Bro Felix Amechi Obuah popularly called “*Ground”* over abusive comments, considered a heavy insult on a former Rivers State Governor, Sir Dr Peter Otunanya Odili.
The ONELGA youths jointly led by the various zonal Presidents and other youth leaders including: Ekiti Justice, Ambrose Okpor,
Ifeanyichukwu Azu-Azu, Owurre Sunday Bright among others; made the condemnation and rejection, when they trooped out to the premises of the Local Government Council at Omoku to register their displeasure and at the verbal attacks against Dr Peter Odili.
The youths emphatically condemned the apologies tendered to the FCT Nyesom l, Wike by Goround and cohorts, who allegedly spoke onbehalf of the people of Ndoni and ONELGA at large, pleading with Nyesom Wike to forgive Dr Peter Odili for saying that he, the FCT Minister wanted to turn Rivers State to his personal estate.
The youths of ONELGA took turns to speak, saying Felix Amechi Obuah’s apologies did not reflect the position of ONELGA Leaders, stakeholders and youths, as their speeches were on personal grounds.
On his part, a Youth Activist in ONELGA, Richard Ogidi described the comment by the former State PDP Chairman, Felix Obuah as an insult to Dr Odili, warning that the youths of ONELGA would not tolerate any further insults on their leaders
Ogidi alleged that: I’m so ashamed that Felix Obuah is going on air to insult Sir Dr Peter Odili, ONELGA youths will not take that.
“The same Felix Obuah that the then Governor Wike gave 12.8 billion Naira to construct our road, did he do the road?
“For eight years, the former governor, Nyesom Wike had no project in ONELGA, this is the same man, who kept Rivers State in his pockets,
“I even doubt if Felix Obuah is an ONELGA son because those of us born in ONELGA don’t go on air to talk like that, those of born in ONELGA are not greedy fellows but for the first time, we have a man, who only him and his family members are rich; we say shame to brother Felix Obuah, shame to those following him.
This will be the last time we will send such message to them, if they try to insult anybody from ONELGA again, especially those, who have played major role in keeping ONELGA what it is today, we will not take lightly with them”.
The Chairman of Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni Local Government Council, Prince Isaac Umejuru, while receiving the angry youths at the Council, also condemned the unguarded statement made against Dr Peter Odili.
Prince Isaac Umejuru described Dr. Peter Odili as a father and symbol of democracy in the State, who does not deserve the aspersions some persons are casting on him.
He said: “They are the same people, who have impoverished us and ONELGA youths will not allow them to make stupid statements against our father, I stand with you anytime, any day”.
“Sir Dr Peter Odili is a symbol of peace, a symbol of democracy, was the *Golden Governor*, he made all those politicians talking against him today; I beg you to calm your temper, very soon, in days, you will hear our responses to the intruders”.
The Chairman of ONELGA, Prince Isaac Umejuru further regretted that the politicians, who made the statements against Dr Peter Odili, did not record human capital development, when they were in the helms of affairs in the State and LGA.
“For the number of years, these people have been in the helms of affairs, can you show me one youth they have made?
“The only thing they have levelled you is that you are cultists, is that you are drug adists, is that you are useless; are you useless?
“When it comes to opportunities, they give to their wives, children and girlfriends but when it comes to politics, they look for the poor youths”, Prince Isaac Umejuru posited.
