FLOOD RAVAGING PARTS OF AHOADA WEST …..As Council Chairman, Ikporo visits, inspects IDP Camps
Flood is now beginning to take over some communities in Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Already, two communities of Akinima And Akieoniso communities are gradually being overwhelmed among others.
Some families have in the meantime, parked out of their homes and according to our correspondent, some are living upstairs within, which belong to other people.
A source told our correspondent that that is the only safety option available while they await government intervention.
Meanwhile, following reports of flooding in some locations in Ahoada West Local Government Area, the Chairman of the Council, Iyokor Ikporo has visited the Internally Displaced People’s, IDP Camp located at Akinima Town, headquarters of the local government.
The Council Chairman, Iyokor Ikporo during the visit, inspected the camp.
He said the inspection visit was ascertain the status of the IDP Camp and to ensure that flood victims are evacuated to safety, after renovations are completed on the Camps.
He disclosed that the Council has seven designated IDP Camps at Akinima, Ogbele, Mbiama, Ubeta and Ahoada Town in Ahoada East LGA.
Our correspondent, who visited the area observed that flood waters have already encroached homes and business premises in the area.
